What is Art Happy Hour? We’re glad you asked! Art Happy Hour is our Adults only version of Community Craft Classes. These classes will take place out in the community of Bloomington, but only in bars or other drinking establishments. Art Happy Hour will take place 1-2 times each month, rotating between locations such as The Upland Wood Shop, Cardinal Spirits, and more!
Crafting at the Wood Shop
On February 21st at 6pm, we will be at The Upland Wood Shop on 11th St. for a craft class! We will be making signs with nails, wire, and wood. You can pick out your own pattern in the class, and with guided instruction, hammer the nails into the wood and wrap wire around them to create this pattern. The ticket price includes one drink from the Wood Shop, where they make their sour ales.
Bottle Painting at Cardinal Spirits
On Saturday, February 23rd, we will be painting bottles at Cardinal Spirit’s Distillery. We are so excited to host this class, and each ticket also includes one drink from Cardinal! We will be recycling bottles from Cardinal Spirits and painting designs on them to make a cute design piece in your home.
Artisan Alley has been branching out and teaching classes in the community of Bloomington, IN. These classes have the same subject matter as other Artisan Alley classes, but they are taught at a separate location. We have had many successful classes in the past in businesses such as Two Sticks Bakery, The Pourhouse Cafe, Crumble Coffee Shop, and more!
Macrame Plant Hangers at The Pourhouse Cafe
We are back at the Pourhouse Cafe to craft Macrame Plant Hangers. We can’t wait to share this awesome craft with you. The price for this class is $25 and includes all materials needed! To sign up, you can go to our Payment Website.
Doodles at Noodles
Due to inclement weather, this class was rescheduled. This class teaches blind contour drawing- a technique used to trace the outline of someone’s face and body, without lifting your pen from the paper, and without looking at your paper! This technique easily turns into a fun, game-like way to challenge your art skills. This class is great for a wide range of participants, whether you’ve never drawn in your life, or you’re a professional artist, and everything in between! Bring a friend to draw, and every 15 minutes you and your partner will switch places. The tickets for this class are $15. You can pay by going here.
Cookies and Canvas
We’re mixing our regular Cookies and Canvas classes with our Community Craft Classes! From now on, our Cookies and Canvas/Craft classes will take place at Baked! of Bloomington. These classes take place every first and third Saturday of the month, and switch between guided paintings and guided crafts. Similar to Wine and Canvas for adults only, these classes are appropriate for ALL ages! We love seeing full families come in to do a guided craft or guided painting. Artisan Alley is so proud to announce that our federal nonprofit status should be coming in very soon! This is something that Artisan Alley has been working toward for over a year. With this change in status, though, we have had to make some changes to our businesses and the way they run.
What was originally the Made Shop at 222 W 2nd St. is now a Co-Work and Classroom space. We are still showing art from our local member artists, but purchasing those items will have to go through the artist themselves and not our shop. This space opens the doors for so many people in the community who want to teach their craft, but can’t afford other places or simply don’t know where to go! To learn more about our Classroom Rentals, click here!
Twisted- Alt Art Shop is also no longer going to do consignment and we are preparing it to be turned into an Art Lounge. This lounge will be a place for game tournaments, co-working, meeting clients, and relaxing. This lounge will be private for members unless there is a public event happening or is rented out to a member of the public. As with the Made Classroom space, we will still be displaying our members’ art for sale through the artist.
We’d like to thank everyone for supporting us through the changes, and we’d especially like to thank all of our members for going with the flow and rolling with every change we’ve put into affect! We are very thankful to the community for making this possible. We hope to be even more successful in 2019.
